Your Bowling Form At The Foul Line

If you want to be in a well balanced position when sliding and releasing your bowling ball, the checkpoint is to hold your bowling form at the foul line.

If you can hold your form for a full second or longer like posing for a photo after following through when your swing movement is complete and before stepping away or moving out of your posture, your balance is likely very good.

If your body balance at the line is in a solid position, you are also likely in a good position when you release your bowling ball.

Since accuracy requires good tempo and good posture as you slide and release the ball, it becomes important to work on your sliding step and your upper body position when sliding.

Your release occurs during you slide step and with your hand exiting your bowling ball no later than the tip of the toe on your sliding bowling shoe, if not sooner.

After releasing your bowling ball, you must next complete your full swing cycle by following through toward your target with no deceleration of your swing movement.

Your only real checkpoint is to hold your form and make sure your upper body is positioned above your legs in a stable and balanced posture.

Your sliding step must use a good amount of knee flex to further stabilize your sliding movement and needs to be near or under the center of your upper body mass.

This important sequence of sliding, releasing the ball on time, and following through is established at the beginning your approach in your stance position.

If you visualize being in a solid sliding and release posture when taking your stance preparing to bowl, all you need do is retain the same spine angle throughout your approach.

Slide, release, follow through, and hold your bowling form. Develop a winning technique and improve your scores.

Another very important tip is to keep your eyes sharply focused on your sight target as a method of holding your head as motionless as possible when walking and swinging your ball. Your head can be a balancing aide to make sure you are in position to hold your form at the line while allowing you to keep your eyes on your target and watch your ball travel down the lane. Stay in balance, hold your head still, and remain in good form.
