Will Faster Feet For Senior Bowlers Increase Bowling Ball Speed?

If you ask will faster feet for senior bowlers increase bowling ball speed, the answer is it certainly can do so?

Traditionally, senior bowlers have learned to bowl with slow footwork. They have been instructed to not rush the foul line.

Generally, senior bowlers with slow steps have late timing.

As example, in a four step approach, getting the ball started into the swing cycle after your first step is complete creates a late timing sequence causing slow steps so your swing will not have to be rushed, or forced, to be completed properly.

Slow footwork can help you (as a senior bowler) maintain good balance and a precise walking path but can also work against you by prohibiting an increase in your ball speed.

If you want to increase ball speed, then increase the pace of your steps by first getting your ball into your back swing sooner than you presently do.

Getting your ball started into your swing sooner ( at the same time as your first step or slightly before your first step) than you do now and allowing your backswing to move swiftly and smoothly to the top of the backswing will free your steps to move livelier and with increased pace when walking to the foul line.

Allowing your steps to move at a relatively “peppy pace” without hesitation between steps will help you maintain balance and continuity in the pace of your steps and lead to the increase in ball speed you seek.

Simply walk quickly enough as to not lose balance and to not sacrifice the path you need to walk based on your alignment on the approach.

By moving to the line faster with a faster swing tempo, you will pick up a mile per hour or more ball speed which, in turn, will help you control your ball reaction while providing additional force when when your bowling ball impacts the pins.

Make certain you accelerate your forward swing to a complete follow through position each shot so you can regulate the increased ball speed from delivery to delivery.

A regulated ball speed will help you control your ball skid distance and get the ball to react at the right time in the mid-lane and on the back end.

A good ball reaction helps you hit the pocket consistently and helps in converting spares if you use a good alignment system.

If you are a senior bowler, or any bowler for that matter, getting increased ball speed starts with faster steps, a swift backswing, and an accelerated follow through motion.
