What Are Three Quick Tips I Can Use When Getting Ready For Competition?

If you ask what are three quick tips I can use when getting ready for competition, the answer may lie with governing your ball speed, control your selected loft distance, and avoid rotating your bowling fingers sooner than needed.

It is surprising how often you may struggle to deliver your bowling ball at a consistent speed.

If you can govern your ball speed and repeat shots at, or very nearly at, the same speed, then you will begin to get a more consistent ball reaction than when you vary speeds unpredictably.

Maintain a steady pace of steps from shot to shot. Match your steps to your swing tempo. Avoid forcing your release by using excessive tension in your bowling arm, shoulders and neck.

In doing so, you can easily become effective at controlling your ball speed and repeating good shots.

Once your ball speed control technique improves, you can then key your release at the same relative moment at the bottom of your forward swing arc to regulate your loft distance beyond the foul line.

Using the same loft distance each shot also helps you control your ball skid distance and helps you maintain a good ball reaction.

Stay behind the ball without rotating your bowling fingers in an effort to gain “revs” or to apply side turn to your bowling ball until your hand arrives at the bottom of your forward swing arc.
