Walk Through Your Bowling Corridor

If you are a new bowler trying to improve your approach and accuracy, learn to walk through your bowling corridor.

Visualize a corridor or hallway from where you position yourself on the approach extending up to the foul line.

The hallway would be one inch wider than both of your shoulders.

The objective is to give you a walking path straight to the foul line.

Since it is easy to teach new bowlers walking inconsistent lines to walk instead on a straight line path, this notion of a corridor to steer the bowler in the right walking direction has merit.

Hitting your spot on the lane becomes much easier when walking your corridor path than if you wander off line without the proper training to do so.

Train yourself to slide on the same board at the foul line where you set-up with your sliding bowling shoe back at your stance position on the approach.

Your bowling corridor can be laterally positioned to the corners of the approach and be used as a mental tool to make sure you walk a straight line path when bowling at corner pin spares.

Unpredictable walking lines at strikes and spares will cause a loss of control and accuracy.

If you have already developed a hook ball delivery technique, you can even align your bowling shoulder about one inch behind your non-bowling shoulder setting up in your corridor and maintain that shoulder relationship throughout your approach and delivery.

Another tip to improve your walking path is to use your steps in such a manner as to walk the “tightrope” keeping each step straight ahead of the previous step so you do not carom off of the side walls of your visualized corridor.

Keeping your head at a steady and level as possible while walking in your corridor also helps you stabilize your balance while delivering your bowling ball.

There are many techniques coaches use to help bowlers develop a good walking path to the foul line.

Using the visualization of a bowling corridor to guide you forward is certainly one method which help you improve your walking direction and balance.
