If you are averaging in the 150 - 180 range and are looking for simple tips to keep your game tuned during competition, try these following techniques:

1. Focus your eyes on your target on the lane.

2. Maintain an athletic posture throughout your approach.

3. Maintain consistent tempo with your steps.

4. Do not force your swing, particularly your forward swing.

5. Avoid forcing your release by trying to apply more power than you normally use.

6. Keep your head as motionless as possible during your approach.

7. Keep the front part of your bowling shoulder facing your sighting target on the lane as you slide and deliver your bowling ball.

8. Avoid decelerating your forward swing.

9. Follow through to a height where your bowling arm reaches shoulder level or higher.

10. Hold your form at the foul line until your ball passes your target.

Use any of the above quick tips to help you focus on what it takes to make good shots during competition.

Avoid cluttering your mind but rather think of a good start and a good finish to your approach with emphasis on one or two of the above tips.

When you are well practiced, it is easy to trust your skills in leagues and tournament bowling.

Keep it simple. Make one good shot at a time.
