Retain Bowling Body Balance

If you want to improve your accuracy, retain bowling body balance when entering your sliding step and when releasing your ball.

Bowling balance benefits every bowler regardless of skill levels or experience in competition.

Accuracy when releasing your ball to your target is a critical part of anyone’s game and it requires being in a solid position to repeat quality deliveries.

Not everyone has a text book looking approach or swing motion but if any given bowler is in a solid position entering the final two steps of his or her approach, that bowler stands a very good chance at making an accurate shot.

Here are a few simple tips to ensure you maximize your body balance when releasing your bowling ball:

*Preset your spine angle in your stance position to match your preferred finish position at the foul line.

*Reduce unnecessary head movement while walking and swinging your bowling ball.

*Avoid hurrying or thrusting your forward swing movement as you prepare to release your ball.

*Avoid runaway footsteps where you walk so quickly you have to “put on the brakes” and lose balance as you release your ball.

*Step to the centerline of your body on your final two steps so your legs are under the center of your body mass creating a stable platform by which you can accurately deliver your bowling ball.

Other factors influencing balance is to allow your trail leg to move smoothly to the side of your body away from your swing path and ideally remain in contact with the floor. Your spine angle should be slightly forward from an upright position where your shoulders are positioned over your knee caps as you slide and release the ball. Retain sufficient knee flex so you do not tip sideways while releasing your ball and so you can slide smoothly keeping your head and shoulders motionless when following through with your swing.
