Regulate Your Loft Distance To Control Your Ball Speed

If you are working at governing your ball speed to get a consistent ball reaction, regulate your loft distance to control your ball speed.

It is surprising how difficult it can be for most bowlers who never practice delivering their bowling ball at a consistent speed to do so in order to get a good ball reaction, particularly on challenging lane conditions.

One important factor of many in controlling ball speed is to regulate your loft distance beyond or near the foul line.

When you release your bowling ball, it is critical to allow your bowling thumb and fingers to let the ball go precisely at the same time each delivery relative to your sliding shoe in order to control your loft distance.

When you control loft distance, it become much easier to also control the speed your ball travels down the lane.

On difficult lane conditions, one of the most important keys in getting a consistent ball reaction is controlling your ball speed.

So begin with learning techniques to control how far your ball lands beyond the foul line to help you govern your overall launch speed.

Normally, the range of loft beyond the foul line varies from 4” to 6” to perhaps as far as three feet with some bowlers actually lofting the ball slightly further than 3 feet.

Factors which are important regardless of how far you intend to loft the ball are to make sure you do not release the ball too far beyond your sliding shoe toe on the upswing causing your ball to bounce excessively.

Avoiding excessive bouncing of the ball from over delaying your release only tends to vary the skid distance control and can adversely affect your ball reaction in the mid-lane.

Be careful to not release the ball too far behind your sliding shoe heel where your ball then contacts the floor behind the foul line.
