Think back to when you were at the top of your game and bring that visualization to the front of your mind.

Visualization can be a useful technique to recall both the physical and mental parts of your game which led to you experiencing your best performances of the past.

Recall times when you bowled extremely well in leagues or tournaments and focus on capturing the same mindset and feelings you experienced in those performances.

Visualization is an effective tool to rally your physical game skills and return to a high level of shotmaking.

Everyone gets into trouble on the lanes from time to time, so do not get down on yourself but rather bring your best physical and mental performances to mind to give you a basis for comparison with the present.

The trick is to have physical and mental techniques to rely on to help you build on your game skills based on solid performances you have previously experienced.

It is also important to rely on strategies in playing the lanes and in selecting bowling balls to match best with the lane conditions.

Poor performances can often be a direct result of ineffective lane play or because of using a bowling ball which is not best matched to the conditions you face.

To combat lane play challenges, it is important to actually know your limitations as well as your strengths in playing various bowling ball delivery path angles.

Know your range of effectiveness and use the adjustment techniques you can rely on as often as possible.

Keeping your range of adjustments simple will help you more often than not.

Change bowling balls if you think no physical game adjustments will work in getting you the reliable ball reaction needed to bowl well.

Having a reliable equipment arsenal can be an advantage when your usual range of adjustments does not help you hit the pocket as consistently as you wish.

When you can bowl with the knowledge that your best performances of the past match the techniques you are now using, then your task in hitting the pocket consistently improves accordingly. Your best performances need not have occurred because you were bowling in “dead stroke” where your shotmaking was perfect. You can win by bowling at 85% of your best stuff if you can trust your game skills well enough to focus primarily on playing the lane conditions in front of you and matching the right bowling ball equipment to that condition.
