Quick Tips For Beginner And Recreational Bowlers

There are some quick tips for beginner and recreational bowlers to follow. If you are one of these bowlers who enjoys bowling with family or friends but does not wish to take the game too seriously, it is recommended to consider these suggestions.

Not every bowler wishes to dive into the game and spend a good deal of time and money learning to bowl. There are, however, common sense tips which can make your time on the lanes both safe and enjoyable.

Here are some simple tips which make sense when you bowl:

*Own your own professionally fitted bowling ball.

Not only will you benefit by using the same ball each time you bowl, the ball will properly fit your hand and prevent possible injury or skin irritation on your bowling fingers that publicly used “house balls” found at bowling centers may cause.

Your pro shop professional can help you choose an appropriate bowling ball to get you started and then custom measure and fit the ball to your hand.

*Another tip is to be careful to pick up your bowling ball off of the return table by the sides of the ball using two hands. Pick up the ball by placing your hands where other balls on the table will not accidentally roll and smash against your fingers or hand.

*The next tip is to observe the established etiquette and bowling courtesies while you are on the lanes bowling with your friends or family.

Anyone working at the control desk in local bowling centers can help you learn a few courtesies of the game to make your experience bowling and the experiences of those bowling around you enjoyable.

As example, avoid stepping onto the approach directly next to another bowler on an adjacent lane who is preparing to bowl. One bowler at a time is the general rule alternating with other bowlers on lanes next to your lane.

*Another useful tip is to avoid walking on the concourse or carpet between frames of your game unless it is necessary to do so.

It is possible you can step on moisture from spillage of drinks carried by other bowlers returning to their lanes or in another substance which can adversely affect the bottom of your sliding shoe when you are on the approach walking to deliver your bowling ball.

*Your pro shop professional is a good person with whom to discuss how to use your new bowling ball, how to care for the ball, and to select other items such as your own bowling shoes and bowling bag.

*The control counter personnel can best advise you on how to program the automatic computer scores in preparation to bowl. They can also answer any other questions you may have related to your time spent on the lanes.

Follow these common sense, quick tips and get into the swing of having fun on the lanes.
