Pre-Set Your Bowling Delivery Position

Pre-set your bowling delivery position when you take your stance on the approach.

Set-up in your stance position with your upper body creating a forward spine angle tilt of perhaps 10 to 15 degrees.

Pre-set your bowling shoulder to the level of shoulder tilt you wish to use when releasing your ball.

By doing these two set-up tips you will be in the delivery position before taking a step.

Walk to the foul line and swing your bowling ball without changing your spine angle or moving your head or shoulders. The fewest moving parts, the more efficient will be your body motion.

Since balance during your approach and delivery is so important, avoid unneeded movement of your head and shoulders (your entire torso from your hips to the top of your head) while you walk to the foul line to deliver your bowling ball.

Avoid any movement of pressing forward or lunging to deliver your bowling ball.

Once you establish a stable set-up position on the approach before beginning your first step, check to make certain the bottom portion of your chin is at shoulder level (or slightly higher) and your head is not tilted to either side.

As you begin walking, visualize balancing a full glass of water on top of your head without spilling a drop.

In order to accomplish this visualization technique successfully, your head must remain virtually motionless.

If only your legs and arm swinging your bowling ball are used to transport you to the line as the only significant moving body parts, you will develop a smooth, well balanced approach.

So the simple tips are merely these:

1. Pre-set your upper body spine angle into your ideal bowling ball delivery position when taking your stance.

2. Move only your legs and bowling arm swinging your ball during your approach.

3. Eliminate all other unnecessary body movement.

This process will assist your making accurate deliveries. Accuracy is needed to hit your sight target repeatedly and balance at the line is a key factor in stabilizing your shot making. Controlling your ball speed is another factor which contributes to accuracy. Releasing your ball consistently and at the same moment of release contributes to accuracy and bowling ball skid distance control. The fewer moving parts while you bowl result in fewer chances for errant shots.
