If you are a beginner and wish to learn new bowler footwork and posture tips, there are a few which can certainly help you walk and swing your bowling ball in balance.

In fact, any bowler should be reminded of these timeless bowling tips to reinforce their techniques and fundamentals. Never laugh at knowing the basic fundamentals of the game just because you might become a very skilled player. Sometimes, having the basics to fall back on and seriously help your game.

When you walk and swing your ball with a well balanced body posture, your accuracy will improve.

Good footwork and posture are the cornerstones used in developing a sound bowling approach.

Let’s define these bowling terms to make sure you have a clear understanding to what they refer.

Footwork refers to the length, tempo, and direction of each step as you walk when you bowl.

Posture refers to your spine angle tilt as you take your stance readying to bowl, while you walk, and when you release your bowling ball.

Balance is created by making sure your torso (upper body) is set with a slightly forward spine tilt and positioned over your knee caps when taking your stance.

*Use your natural length walking stride and begin your first step with an unhurried movement.

*Maintain a slight amount of knee flex during the first steps and add more flex in your final sliding step so the big muscles of your sliding leg are used for balance and leverage.

*Establish a consistent walking tempo with relaxed legs.

*Walk smoothly using a slight heel-to-toe action leading into the slide step.

*The slide step should glide into the approach with most of your weight balanced on the ball of your sliding foot followed by your weight distributed evenly on your sliding heel and sole to complete your slide step.

*Establish a consistent walking tempo each shot you make.

*Limit the amount of drift, either to the left or to the right, to about two boards from the initial set-up alignment.

Good bowling balance is more important than you may think if you wish to become a consistently good bowler. Balance while you walk is a big factor in accuracy especially at the very critical moment you release your bowling ball. A very good strategy is to keep your head and shoulders as motionless as possible while walking to the foul line and retain the same spine angle throughout. Hold your form at the foul line. Watch your bowling ball pass through your sight target on the lane.
