Make Your Decision First And Then Bowl

Make your decision first and then bowl. Often, skilled players will react too quickly to situations that they can take for granted converting a routine spare or using an adjustment when missing the pocket.

If you are an experienced bowler and wish to improve, think before you bowl.

As example, if you are a right handed player and leave a solid eight pin after making a great shot, avoid jumping up too quickly and shooting at the spare before making sure you are in a proper frame of mind and ready to convert the spare using full attention.

Far too often bowlers will react emotionally and not plan the next shot with a clear mind. Take a deep breath and refocus before your shot.

Regardless of the situations confronting you during competition, rely on common sense decisions before rushing to bowl.

Here are a few tips to not overlook:

*Use your pre-shot routine as time to take advantage in planning your next delivery when preparing to bowl.

*Keep it simple and trusting your decisions and skills during competition.

*Clear your mind of excessive thoughts and focus instead on what it takes to make one good shot at a time. Envision your intended ball path before you start your approach.

*Watch your aim point carefully as you walk and swing your bowling ball. Don’t take your eyes of your bowling ball traveling down the lane.

*Avoid overlooking routine spare conversions making sure you bear down on every spare shot at all times. Spares are key to high scores.

*Keep your bowling ball surfaces cleaned and prepared for use in competition.

*Practice with purpose. Develop a practice plan and work on your physical and mental game skills so you are confident in trusting your decisions in competition.

Simple mental game principles are the foundation for successful bowling performances.

Make proven adjustments as they are needed without hesitation.

Make your decision first and then bowl.
