Less Ball Reaction On Tough Bowling Lanes

If you are in the 175 or 180 average range, then learn to trust using less ball reaction on tough bowling lanes.
When lane conditions make it difficult to hit the pocket consistently, you find yourself getting an inconsistent ball reaction. Either your ball hooks too soon or too late and misses the pocket.
It is in these cases where using a bowling ball with a non-aggressive coverstock and with medium or low track flare potential will serve you best.
When the lanes get tough, look for less hook and less of a big arc motion in the mid lane. You may even wish to use your most reliable ball to help you read the lanes and control the reaction in the mid lane avoiding run-away hook or excessive skid distance.
Even the strongest power players who are highly skilled in the game will tend to use bowling balls with weak drilling layouts and with low track flare to control the ball reaction in the mid lane.
Less ball hook can work to your advantage when you find the lanes getting tough.
On easy lanes where hitting the pocket is not a huge chore, use your powerful reacting balls with confidence since because the oil pattern is forgiving and allows errant shots to recover in the mid lane and still give you a chance to hit the pocket and strike.
When conditions become challenging, then it is time to look for less ball reaction and take a more direct line to the breakpoint and stop looking for a great deal of forgiveness in ball reaction when you make a poor shot.
Tough lanes call for a dependable ball reaction and the need for good ball speed control and accuracy in hitting your target on the lane.

Avoid trying to force a ball reaction by trying to increase your ball revs or change your axis of rotation. Instead, simplify the process.
Use a mild reacting ball for control purposes and use more of a direct line to the breakpoint with only a small finger rotation as opposed to opening up your delivery angle and looking for a sweeping hook motion.
The name of the game in scoring is hitting the pocket consistently and avoiding open frames.
Use less ball reaction on tough bowling lanes and grind out good, steady scores so you do not fall behind your opponents during competition.
