If you are averaging in the 180’s and can’t seem to nudge your average forward, then you must get to know your bowling variables.

There are so many variables related to advancement in the game that it can be overwhelming if you think in terms of learning every possible adjustment and how to implement these adjustments as needed.

The key is to narrow use of all these variables into a only a few key ones relevant to your game and skills.

It helps to organize your adjustments or variables related to your physical game techniques into perhaps four or five categories and then narrow the variables further to a manageable number of two or three adjustments per category.

Break down the keys to making a good shot into four or five categories such as Set-up and Posture, Footwork, Timing and Swing, and Release and Finish Position.

Then you can easily select two or three keys within each category to use as needed when your game goes slightly awry, particularly when you are in competition.

The same holds true when you must make decisions on playing the lanes.

Use a system based on your delivery technique to establish an initial alignment to the pocket and then narrow the number of alignment adjustments to only two or three adjustments you trust the most during the pressures of competition.

You might select using a parallel adjustment system for moving on the approach to compensate for the changing oil condition on the lanes.

Next, you can consider using a ball speed adjustment or a loft distance adjustment.

Sighting closer or further down the lane can help you alter your ball skid distance somewhat. of course, you can simply change bowling balls when your adjustments no longer work.

Develop an understanding of your game and the variables available so you can confidently pinpoint physical adjustments to your game or trust your decisions when playing the lanes to help you improve your scoring performances.

Knowledge is really important in developing trust in your game. Know your bowling variables and practice them often to round out your skill set.

Raise your average by trusting specific adjustments to your game.
