Keep Your Eyes On Your Bowling Aim Point

Keep your eyes on your bowling aim point.

If you take your eyes off of your sight target on the lane during your approach to the foul line, you may be thinking too much about your physical game instead of where you want your bowling ball to go.

Every bowler understands that to develop accuracy, you must keep your eyes focused sharply on your aim point.

There are answers why you may be taking your eyes off the aim point on the lane and thereby risking a loss in accuracy.

If you think about given physical aspects of your game while walking and swinging your bowling ball which are both key in making a good shot, it is entirely possible you will forget to focus on your target.

Thinking through each step you take and every bowling motion you make places less emphasis on getting your ball to hit the pocket or to convert the spare.

You risk becoming so mechanical and tense with your overall body motion that you may be forcing your release or risking a loss of a free and smooth swing motion.

It is certainly recommended by instructors in the game to focus on key aspects of your physical game but not to the extent that you become “robotic” with your motion and force your swing and release.

A good start by taking a smooth first step and retaining good balance and tempo when walking and swinging your ball allow you to focus on a crisp release and completion of your swing motion.

There is no need to labor over each subtle movement your body makes when bowling but rather allow yourself to trust your game and your physical skills, especially when bowling in competition.

If you forget to watch your target on the lane while you bowl, you bring a randomness into the equation.

Make full commitment to hitting your sight target every delivery and you do this by keeping your eyes on your bowling aim point.

The notion of keeping your eye on your spot and taking dead aim at your target is certainly not a new one. This phrase has been used repeatedly in other sports. It applies to any game where you must deliver something to a precise location. It also implies complete trust in commanding your brain to direct your delivery in such a way that you accurately hit your precise target.
