How Do I Remind Myself What To Do When I Bowl?

Updated 7/31/2020

If you are a new bowler or one just learning the game, take a bowling lesson from an experienced coach. A good coach can help you answer the question how do I remind myself what to do when I bowl?

It is important to realize that just because you are a beginning bowler or new to the game does not mean you are new to life.

Use your common sense abilities to organize the key aspects of your bowling and work on one or two fundamentals each time you bowl until they become easy to do.

If you have a hard time recalling what to do after you take a lesson and when you set out to practice next, then get into a habit of writing down the keys your coach asked you to practice.

Organize your game into sub-sections such as your stance posture on the approach to make sure everything is balanced and ready to begin walking.

Work on your footstep keys so you walk a straight line from any alignment positioning on the approach for both strike and spare shots and be sure to not hurry your steps.

Practice your timing sequence the coach advised so you begin your swing motion at the proper time in the swing cycle relative to your first step.

Work on the tempo and direction of your swing.

Hold your form at the foul line keeping your head still and your eyes focused on your spot on the lane and follow through toward your spot on the lane.

Each of these sub-sections of your game can be practiced one at a time until you feel progress, then move on to the next.

In a few short weeks and with regular practice, you will begin to familiarize yourself with the important fundamentals of your game that need the most attention.

In doing so, you will be less likely to forget what to do and you will begin to see real progress.

Establish a practice plan. Bring your written plan with you to the lanes and review the keys to your game before beginning to bowl.

You must first understand the important keys to good fundamentals before you can practice them so make certain you get a good coach and take at least one lesson. The money you invest will pay off in shortening the time it takes to develop your game.

So if you ask how do I remind myself what to do when I bowl?, learn to write down your key areas you must work on when you hit the lanes.

No guess work; practice instead what your coach helps you with and become familiarized with the process of practicing with purpose.
