How Do I Figure Out What To Work On When I Practice Bowling?

If you are trying to raise your average from the 145 - 160 range and are asking how do I figure out what to work on when I practice bowling, it might be time to take at least one bowling lesson from an experienced instructor?

An experienced coach can help you document and process the procedure you need to practice when you prepare to bowl.

It is important to realize that just because you have been bowling for years and are a decent bowler, you can still learn techniques to improve your game.

Just hearing about or reading techniques is not enough. Your coach must show you how to implement any new technique and give you a practice routine to develop consistency.

It certainly does not hurt to document your key points taken from your coaching session so you can bring them to mind before you bowl in the future.

If you have no notes on key points your coach has provided and tend to resist working with a coach, then use common sense to organize the key aspects of your game, the strengths of your game, and work on only one or two fundamentals each time you bowl until they become easy to do.

Organize your game into sub-categories such as stance posture, steps, swing, release, balance, finish position, and so on.

Each of these sub-categories can be practiced one at a time until you feel progress, then move on to the next.

In a few short weeks and with regular practice, you will have worked on keys to your game which will surely lead you to improvement.

Please do not think it a waste of time to develop your own practice plan. Jot down a few category comments after each practice session so you can review your notes before your next practice.

Remove guess work from your mind and rely instead on practicing your game fundamentals by recording or documenting the keys you must focus on when you practice.

If you are satisfied with your game and your scores and really do not like to practice, then just relax and enjoy bowling for the pure fun of it.

If you wish, however, to improve your game skills, you have to put forth the effort and the work by practicing with an organized plan.

There are no short cuts to improvement. You must do the work.
