How Can I Stay Down With My Bowling Shot?

If you find yourself raising up at the foul line just before releasing your bowling ball, you should be asking how can I stay down with my bowling shot?

Here are a few quick tips to reduce the tendency of raising up before letting go of your ball:

*Don't peek. Resist the urge to look up and follow your bowling ball before you actually release the ball.

*Stay down and through with your shot.

*Avoid lunging your head or upper body forward and upward.

*Maintain your knee flex in both of the final two steps of your approach. In doing so, you can more easily keep the same elevation from the floor with your bowling shoulder.

*Preset your posture in your stance position to be the same as when you deliver your bowling ball.

*Maintain the same spine angle of about 10 degrees forward tilt throughout your approach.

If you push up off of your step before your slide step trying to force your release or to get more revs on the ball, you risk moving your body out of a good posture while releasing the ball.

When you move your upper body suddenly as you are in the act of releasing your ball, your accuracy surely will suffer.

One of the oldest coaching tips is to stay down on your shot. Remain in a good athletic posture until after your ball is gone off of your hand.

By doing so, you will become an accurate bowler, hit the pocket consistently, and record improved bowling scores.
