Double Check Your Bowling Footwork Path

If you are experiencing some inconsistency with your slide, balance, or accuracy, double check your bowling footwork path.

Sometimes your accuracy suffers if you do not walk consistent lines to the foul line.

If you find yourself drifting more than one board to the right or left of your intended walking path, practice walking a consistent direction regardless of whichever angle on the lane you are playing.

If you are aligned properly to the pocket, as example, but you are drifting either left or right of your desired walking path, your bowling ball delivery angle changes and so will your ball reaction.

Know where you are walking. Reduce unwanted drifting regardless of your walking path direction.

Some bowlers walk a straight line to the foul line just as you might imagine a gymnast walking on a balance beam or a tightrope walker on the high wire.

Other players walk left (right handed players) of a straight line path to allow for the swing direction to realign slightly to an inside-to-outside swing path allowing for the amount of hook that given player produces.

Bowlers today can improve their accuracy by improving their footwork.

Learning the keys to good footwork is as important for beginners as it is for more experienced bowlers like yourself.

Not only is developing a synchronized arm swing coordinated with your steps an important key in your bowling, knowing where you walk and which board on the approach floor you will slide is extremely important if you wish to become an accurate player.

When practicing, take notice of which board the instep of your sliding bowling shoe covers and monitor the slide for ten consecutive shots.

If you can walk and slide on the same board all ten times, you will find it easy to hit your target with your ball because you are not changing your delivery path angle repeatedly.

Double check your bowling footwork path to help you gain accuracy and a reliable ball reaction.
