bowlingball.com continues our series of Editorial articles to express opinions about the bowling industry. This article share a few bowling tips of the Pro’s from the 1970’s.

Because this site provides editorial bowling articles, we thought it would be fun to share a few tips top Pro Bowlers of the ‘70’s would typically offer to amateur bowlers in hopes of helping their games.

These tips may or may not be of direct use to you but it might be fun to consider them if you feel you could use simple technique advice to help your bowling?

Here are several tips commonly shared by the following players and coaches 40 years past:

*Nelson Burton, Jr (PBA Hall of Fame): “Hold your form under pressure.”

*Johnny Petraglia (PBA Hall of Fame): “Keep your chin facing your target as you bowl.”

*Earl Anthony (PBA Hall of Fame): “Let your hand follow your ball toward your target.”

*Mark Roth (PBA Hall of Fame): “Try to miss your target a board outside.”

*Marshall Holman (PBA Hall of Fame): “Follow Through so the tips of your bowling fingers come up through the bottom of the lane.”

Don Johnson (PBA Hall of Fame): “Don’t lift your bowling ball, release it.”

*Fred Borden (USBC Hall of Fame Coach): “Don’t reach out, reach up.”

*John Jowdy (Coach): “Release your bowling ball with your hand low to the floor.”

*Sam Baca (PBA Champion and Coach): “Accuracy comes with good footwork.”

These few tips are simplistic in nature yet communicate how these great players and coaches thought about the game when offering suggestions to bowlers throughout America.

There were many other tips offered by these players and coaches in the 1970’s. These tips, however, were favorites of these great players and coaches.
