The bowling power stroker delivery style is one of many widely used types of releases used by competitive players throughout the world. Since there are so many types of deliveries used by players ranging from professionals, amateurs, internationals, and youth players, we thought addressing the bowling power stroker delivery style is one in which most bowlers have heard little about yet so many use in their primary games.
The following categories are the deliveries used to describe techniques ranging from the most powerful to the least powerful:
1. Two Handed Cranker
2. Two finger/no thumb
3. Cranker
4. Power Tweener

5. Tweener
6. Power Stroker
7. Stroker
8. Straight
9. Back-Up-ball
10. USA spinner
11. UFO spinner
12. Push ramp
13. Disable delivery ramps
14. Retractable handled bowling balls
By far and away, the most common delivery techniques are cranker, power tweener, tweener, power stroker, stroker, and straight ball deliveries. Back-up, two handed, thumb-less, and spinner deliveries are the next most common groups of bowlers. Following are the spinner type players, disabled ramp and retractable handled delivery bowlers.
The power stroker delivery fits in the most common categories between the tweener and the stroker deliveries and is used by bowlers who create moderate revolutions applied to the bowling ball with a slight rotational axis tilt of the bowling ball, both generated by this delivery technique. These power stroker bowlers are versatile on many types of lane oil conditions but are most commonly effective on house oil conditions.
A power stroker bowler uses a relatively straight or reverse-tilting wrist position. This delivery style allows the thumb to exit the ball slightly ahead of the fingers and applies a modest finger rotational action equivalent of three hours on the clock dial toward the side of the ball.
A power stroker delivery creates a relatively low rev-rate. This style of bowler usually has about a shoulder high or slightly higher back swing producing medium-high overall ball speed with a smooth and controllable ball release.
The type of delivery generally results in a launch velocity of about 20 miles per hour (mph) producing an instantaneous velocity upon impact with the bowling pins near 16.5-17 mph and an average velocity about 18 mph.
This delivery produces a moderate ball hook-motion from the break point to impact with the pins. The power stroker is a very common player in leagues and tournaments around the world because it produces a controllable yet powerful overall bowling ball motion.
