Bowling Balance And Power

Bowling balance and power is built from the ground up.

Your bowling approach relies on good footwork technique.

By using your legs to support your body weight and allowing yourself to get lower to the floor not only by tilting your spine angle forward but also by bending your knees which brings the big muscles of your legs into play.

Using your legs to gradually get you lower to the floor with each succeeding step to the point helps you develop power and stability during your sliding step.

By now bowling stiff legged where you do not use an knee flex at all risks a loss of balance as you slide and release your bowling ball.

Unless you have a physical concern with bending your knees while walking and swinging your ball, it is best to create the sliding stability needed to make accurate shots from a solid platform using sufficient knee bend.

You can easily maximize your release power by using your knees to create leverage as you walk and slide.

It is easy to understand that developing good footwork technique can lead to balance and power.

Here are a few simple keys in doing so:

*Set up with your body weight centered evenly over your feet.

*Flex your knees and tilt your spine forward about 10 or 15 degrees where the front portion of your shoulders is aligned directly above your knee caps.

*Retain this posture while you walk and swing your bowling ball.

*Step toward the center of your body during your final two steps for sliding stability and balance purposes.

*Keep your head still during your approach to further promote good body balance.

Another factor important in retaining good balance is establishing your best bowling tempo. Bowl with a pace of movement easy for you to repeat. Be as tension free as possible while swinging and releasing your bowling ball. Establishing bowling balance and power starts from the ground up.
