If you are averaging about 160 and ask am I forcing my shot when trying hard to bowl well, you may be correct?

It is important to remain focused on your game and give your best effort in competition but be careful to not try so hard that you push your swing, force your release, or hurry to the foul line and lose balance.

If you want to get the most out of your game when bowling under pressure situations, then learn to keep your composure, maintain an even keel, and avoid highs and lows of emotions.

A tempered and consistent disposition will serve you well in the long run as opposed to getting too “amped up” in preparation for competition.

When you remain calm, you are less likely to force your swing or release.

If you can simply focus on retaining an athletic posture throughout your approach by keeping the same spine angle until your shot is away, you will position yourself to make good shots and will maintain good balance.

Rushing your steps and shortening your backswing trying to hurry and get your shot delivered produces errant shots.

Make certain no matter how hard you are trying to bowl well or no matter how nervous you become, you make consistent paced steps and not vary your swing speed so you remain in good position to make accurate deliveries when bowling “under the gun.”

Good bowling discipline begins with walking and swinging your bowling ball with consistent tempo and in a consistent, target oriented direction.

Try to release your ball at the same speed each shot and you will develop a smooth tempo when bowling in competition.

It is important to try hard at anything in life worth doing, bowling included. If you try so hard, however, and disrupt your best bowling motion, then your efforts might go unrewarded.

Get into a groove, stay relaxed, and trust your skills in competition.
