I have a new passion of working out at the gym. I have been seeing a personal trainer for years and have learned that working out is all about functional training and balance. As the exercises have progressed into compound movements, they have continually challenged my balance. Although my body is trained to remain balanced, I am always taken by home much my focus matters to be able to keep my balance. Every time, it makes me think about how much influence good concentration and focus had on my career and the influence they have on the careers of others.
I have been trained to have good balance. But, when I lose my balance, it is almost always because my mind wandered and I lost focus. This is fascinating to me. When I refocus, I can accomplish the task at hand. I realize how important the relationship between the ability to maintain focus and performance truly is. It seems so obvious, but to experience it in another setting is amazing. This is such a simple and yet profound concept. The ability to focus and refocus makes all the difference.
