Congratulations to Brian Voss and Diandra Asbaty for winning the Don & Paula Carter Mixed Doubles on Sunday! Voss and Asbaty climbed the latter from the 5 seed to win the tournament, and didn't get their first real challenge until the Championship match against Jason Belmonte and Michelle Feldman.
This tournament was almost a mirror of the past 4 years for Brian Voss since his last victory. He's had to claw his way back onto tour, and in this tournament they had to claw just to make the show. Voss even converted the 7-10 split to keep them in the hunt.
The real key to this victory though was Asbaty. She was the perfect foil to Voss' intense and sometimes reckless emotion. Diandra was calm and relaxing throughout the entire telecast, and this helped Voss keep his composure. It didn't hurt that she threw a TON of strikes!
Brian Voss used a combination of the
Nomad and
Hy-Road, while Asbaty used the new
C (System)3.5 with success all day.
