Ball-Selection Tips For Intermediate Bowlers

You are at the point in your development where you need to begin looking beyond the basics. So, instead of simply making sure your bowling ball fits your hand, you need to make sure it fits your game.

Today's bowling balls are very sophisticated and each is produced with specific purposes in mind. Some are made for heavy oil, and some are made for drier conditions. Some dig into the lane right away, and others save their energy for a big move at the back end of the lane.

At the intermediate level, I recommend having two balls at your disposal. The first ball should offer a reasonable amount of hook. This is the ball you'll use when the oil is heavy or you need to swing the ball. The second ball should be one that goes much straighter. You'll use this ball when the lanes are dry and/or for shooting spares.

There are literally hundreds of bowling balls that will fit these characteristics, so consult your local pro shop professional for help. He or she will be able to recommend the ball or balls that will fit your game and keep you striking.
